Q3 Blog 3 Argument from character

Many would say that Zumba Fitness has nohthing special to offer and that it is no more effective than any other type of aerobic exercise. Zumba Fitness is a workout in which a person dances to different styles of latin music, such as the lambada, merengue, reggaeton, salsa and cumbia, and also a little bit of hip hop. Zumba Fitness is more effective than a typical running workout because of the fact that it does not lack variety of songs or movements. In addition, it is challenging and fun to do, which increases the continuation of motivation. This is not to say that Zumba Fitness is the only thing necessary to lose weight. Some people may say that they have lost weight with just Zumba Fitness, but to further increase your loss of weigh even more you must eat healthier in addition to drinking more water to replace unhealthy beverages like soda or juice cocktails.
For example, my sister Maricela watches her intake of food by choosing whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetableswhen she can. And as far as water goes, she drinks it as much as she can. Since her change in diet and her introduction to Zumba Fitness, my sister has lost a total of fifteen pounds and has maintained that weight loss for almost seven months now. If she had just done a running or machine workout she would not have lasted as long or even lost as much weight. On the other hand, there are people like me who go to the Zumba classes but only maintain their weight, at best, because they do not change their eating habits. This goes to show that going to Zumba Fitness classes, along with improving your eating habits, will increase your weight loss. Then there are the people who try to keep an exercise routine with outdorr running or cardio machines as their main source of cardio, such as my father. For people who enjoy running, this may be fitting. For beginners or. People who need something a little more engaging, however, zumba may be a better match. My father las tried countless times to begin exercising, but finds it too boring, and therefore difficult to commit to. If he were to give zumba a try, he would see that his exercise will be more effective because he will be doing cardio along with some strength training. In turn, he will lose more weight, assuming he changes his diet as well. Even if he did not, he would still be more likely to stick with this because beginners may need something to keep their attention before they can get into exercising. That is why Zumba Fitness is a better exercise option for people who are looking for something engaging and fun that will make the time fly.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System is one of the best transportation systems in the country. MTS was named the Outstanding Transit System in 2009 by the American Public Transportation Association. The MTS is used by many citizens to get to jobs, school or even to get a tour of San Diego. The most significant reason why citizens use the MTS is because they will save themselves from spending more money than needed to get to where they need to go. The use of this system may soon be increasing, because of the recent increases in gasoline prices, that show no indication of reduction. At the current moment, the average cost of nine tenths of a gallon is three dollars and sevety seven cents at a nearby gas station, and it is only going to get higher. With a small car that can carry fifteen gallons of gasoline, filling the tank would cost sixty two dollars with eighty three cents. This would be a cheaper alternative to a city public transportation pass that costs seventy two dollars a month, but only if a person can make their gasoline last for a month before needing to refuel again. Also, a person would need a small car with fifteen gallons to spend less than seventy two dollars a month. With this fact, people considering a car as their primary means of transportation should first seriously consider taking the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. For example, my sister Maricela is thinking about getting a car to get to school. Looking at the price of gas alone, and ignoring all other costs associated with owning a car, such as insurance and parking passes, the lesser expensive option would be to take public transportation. Many schools even offer discounted prices on semester or monthly passes. This should further entice my sister to take public transportation to school.by doing this, she would have more money to spend on things like tuition, materials and anything else she might need like everyday necessities, such as food.
It could also mean that she would not need to get a job for the sole purpose of gasoline for a car. Not needing to work would mean more free time, which could balance out the additional time it might take to get to school with public transportation, versus a car. Also, more time could potentially mean add more time for school work and studying. For these reasons, my sister whould take public transportation to school, so she can save money just as many San Diego citizens do.

People who start fights but do not finish them or actually carry them out are posers. For example, my neighbor inMexico, along with his friends, went to pick a fight with a group of guys from the nearby neighborhood. However,  they ended up running back home to "safety." They did so as soon as the first sign of a real physical fight appeared, making them posers. Anybody else who acts like this, in any situation, is a poser as well. A poser, according to Urbandictionary.com is one who pretends to  be someone or something they are not through many characteristics. These characteristics may include how they dress, speak, think and act. With the previous example, my neighbor and his friends were pretending to be "hard" by dressing like gangsters, talking in a way that would provoke a fight, and by acting like they wanted to fight, and even looking for and initiating one. Yet, when they actually got what they were "looking" for, they chickened out. This backing out makes him and his friends posers, because  they tried to pose as gangsters, when they really are not. The reason for this is most likely the desire and peer pressure to fit in and appear "tough." Furthermore, my neighbor also happens to be high school age. This age tends to be the age where people try to fit in with certain groups the most. And so, it can be induced that teenagers who are posers are doing so to fit in with a certain group of people that they want to get respect from. Without respect, people are left out, made fun of, or both, but posing as something you're not defeats the whole purpose because if someone is found out, they will be left out and made fun of anyway. That is what usually happens when you "talk the talk but don't walk the walk." what I mean to say is that there are many different parts to being something. Posers do not meet all of the components. Genuinely being part of a certain group means dressing the part, having the mentality of that group, speaking the colloquial language and acting on those thoughts. Posers, however, may dress, speak and pretend to act like genuine members of a group, but they lack the mentality and actual actions, making them fake. Instead of getting the approval they seek, they get the distance they wanted to avoid.

Q3 Blog 4 Construct an Argument that challenges Normative Ideology

The majority of society says that a man should marry a woman, and not another man. Likewise, another woman should not marry another woman. The primary reason for this normative ideology is religion. Most religions, such as the church of latter day saints, for example, express their disapproval for same sex partnerships. Their belief is that based on the notion that God intended for a man and a woman to marry each other only. This is exemplified with the story of the creation of Adam, a man, and Eve, a woman.
People should have the right to marry whoever they are in love with, even if it is between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, without being judged. The assumption is that a homosexual is homosexual because they choose to be, and so they deserve to be ridiculed and looked down upon by heterosexuals. However, my experience with homosexuals leads me to believe that it is not a choice, but rather an attraction they are born with. Therefore, homosexuals are not "at fault" for their attraction to the same sex, and should not be punished with discrimination, especially when it comes to marriage.
I have encountered a couple of people who attempted to become homosexual because of their past failed efforts at relationships with people of the opposite sex. These attempts failed or did not last long because they were not attracted to members of the same sex. This further proves the frivolous claim that people choose who they are attracted to. To demonstrate this, think about a time in which you were attracted to someone you probably should not have been attracted to. For example, perhaps you may, at one time, have been attracted to someone who is already in a relationship, or even married. Or perhaps you have been attracted to someone who has been with a family member or friend. The possibilities of this situaation are endless, but the main point is the same: You are attracted to someone you shouldn't be, and there is no switch you can flip to make it stop. Just the same, you cannot force yourself to be attracted to someone you are not already attracted to. Again, there is no little switch to flip that will make you become attracted to who you do not find attractive. As Mr. Sancho says in "Meant to Be," "Follow your feelings, they don't lie."
